Veterans & Military Families Month
November 2024
WHEREAS, November was first declared as Military Family Month in 1996, and since then, this month has become a time to honor the tremendous sacrifices made by our military families.
These families endure long separations, adapt to new living situations, and integrate into new communities. They embody strength, resilience, and courage; and WHEREAS, we join together with our community to recognize the extraordinary men and women whose selfless service has safeguarded our nation’s most cherished freedoms. Their sacrifices are woven into the very fabric of our society, serving as a constant reminder of the courage it takes to preserve liberty; and
WHEREAS, many veterans carry painful memories and bear physical and emotional scars from their service. We remain steadfast in remembering our veterans who face mental health challenges and the military families that have endured loss; and WHEREAS, it is fitting to recognize the important role of military families who support our troops, foster a sense of unity, and embody the values of loyalty and service; WHEREAS, families provide invaluable encouragement and support to our Servicemembers, managing the home front while their loved ones are deployed. As we approach the winter holiday season, when families across the globe come together, we pay special tribute to our deployed forces and their families; and
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Patterson hereby proclaims November 2024 as "Veterans and Military Families Month" and calls upon the Patterson community to celebrate the indomitable spirit of our heroes. We reaffirm our commitment to them, ensuring that their service is never forgotten, and their contributions are always cherished.
