SUBJECT: Accept all bids for the Ward Avenue Overlay Phase II Project, award construction to Platinum Dirt Worx, LLC., authorize Staff to execute the Contract, and authorize the Finance Department to make the necessary budget amendments.
RECOMMENDATION
Motion to Accept all bids for the Ward Avenue Overlay Phase II Project, award construction to Platinum Dirt Worx, LLC., authorize Staff to execute the Contract, and authorize the Finance Department to make the necessary budget amendments.
BACKGROUND
This project site is located along Ward Avenue from Las Palmas Avenue to N 9th Street. The road segment where construction will occur spans approximately 0.40 mile. The road functions as a Major Collector Road, allowing a main route through the city for residents. This is an effort to maintain and improve roadway safety within the City of Patterson. All construction work will be done within the City of Patterson right-of-way.
ANALYSIS
This project consists of the construction of asphalt concrete pavement grinding, placing a geosynthetic pavement interlayer, pavement overlay, signage and striping, and reconstruction of the existing accessible curb ramps located at the intersection at James Burke Ave. The work also includes the construction of a new non-potable water main and two services along Ward Ave, beginning at the Ward Ave and Las Palmas Ave Intersection. These improvements will include the reconstruction of curb ramps and crosswalks that do not meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, and the adjustment of existing manholes and valve covers to finished grade and applying thermoplastic striping and pavement markings.
FISCAL IMPACT
This project was advertised on the Valley Builders Exchange, the City’s website, and the Patterson Irrigator Newspaper. Bid opening was held on November 06, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. The City received ten (10) bids for this project. The ten bids received are listed below from lowest to highest:
