SUBJECT: Consideration of a Fee Waiver for Planning & Building Fees for the Piedmont Community Pool Project
RECOMMENDATION
By motion, waive all Planning and Building fees for the Piedmont Community Pool Project.
BACKGROUND
Applications for the design review and building permits for the Piedmont Community Pool will be submitted shortly. Because this is a City initiated project, managed by the City, built on land owned by the City, and paid for out of bond funds, it is in the City’s interest to minimize costs for the project.
Fees for Planning and Building permits are designed to cover the costs of processing these applications. Since the City will be covering the cost of this work in any case, permit fees are unnecessary for this project.
As the City Code requires that applications for Planning and Building permits be submitted for this project, and the fees for those permits are set by the City Council, which is also the only body empowered to waive fees, staff believes a fee waiver is in the public interest and appropriate in this case.
