SUBJECT: Appointments to Park Commission and Public Safety Committee
RECOMMENDATION
Appoint Sharon Shohani to the Park Commission for a term ending March 31, 2024 and appoint Georgina Russell to the Public Safety Committee for a term ending March 31, 2024.
BACKGROUND
The City Council conducted interviews for vacancies on all Commissions and Committees at a special meeting on March 28, 2022 and made an appointment to the vacancies that existed at that time. At that meeting, Councilmembers were impressed with each of the candidates who had applied for the Commission.
One of the people whom the Council wished to appoint to the Public Safety Committee declined his appointment, which left a vacancy open on that body.
Since that meeting, Park Commission Chair Amber Brumfiel resigned her position due to an employment opportunity, creating a vacancy on that body.
Based on the statements of Councilmembers at the March 28th public meeting, staff is recommending that Sharon Shoshani be appointed to the Park Commission and Georgina Russell be appointed to the Public Safety Committee.
