Hi Conna,
Could you please circulate this to the appropriate outlet for comments on the development project:
1). Yes, I agree with Conna McCarthy, the housing should be entirely integrated with high and low income units in the same building/location.(To prevent the feeling of a ghetto.) I also feel that the units should be 2 bedrooms or more in order to get families. A master developer
should be used for all the projects (and more apt to
negotiate cost of city amenities.). I also feel you should sell the land rather than lease so you have units which can be sold as condominiums. People are more likely to
maintain the properties with skin in the game.
2). Yes, I think we should eliminate the skate park.
3). Please have them modify the nature trail to reflect a loop from the starting point near the corporate yard. As we discussed, there is no room for a trail head on
Maxwelton (20' wide road) and the access point on
Maxwelton is the gate owned by the cemetery.

You don't often get email from [email protected]. Learn why this is important 4). Is the access to the two lots for sale on Maxwelton owned by Mt. View Cemetery? (There is a gate in place
with signs saying this is private property)
5) The citizens of Piedmont have just approved taxes for the pool, and an increase in taxes to maintain services, such as security. The residents surrounding Moraga
Canyon have a much greater impact as well. They will
have to accept light pollution, noise pollution, traffic congestion, fire hazard and significant safety issues with line-of-site not meeting state standards. Do you really want to ask these people to pay more in taxes for this
net effect?
6) I agree you should eliminate options 3 & 4. I'm in
favor of Option #1 with the least additional
costs. Negotiate with the developers to add a smaller
field/dog park/playground next to the houses on the
north side of Moraga Canyon and develop the skate park
as an extension of the Corporate yard, soccer field or
upscale housing(instead of the 2 houses on Maxwelton
with unknown access). As suggested by Jennifer Long,
this would be a hybrid of Option#1. The housing could be built immediately without additional Piedmont staff, (at the observation of Betsy Anderson for the lowest cost)
with the benefit of a smaller field added, and the skate park area could be developed as the City felt best.

Thanks to all, City Staff, Council members and
Consultants. I know you have put a lot of time into this project.
