SUBJECT: Informational Report on the Status of Housing Element Programs Implementation
RECOMMENDATION
Receive an informational report regarding the City of Piedmont’s progress implementing the Piedmont 6th Cycle Housing Element programs.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On December 2, 2024, Planning & Building Director Kevin Jackson will present a status report on the City’s implementation of 6th Cycle Housing Element programs.
The purpose of this report is to brief the City Council and provide an opportunity for public comment. No action of the City Council is requested at this time.
BACKGROUND
On March 20, 2023, the City Council adopted Resolution 22-2023 approving Piedmont’s 6th Cycle Housing Element. The 6th Cycle Housing Element includes programs to increase housing production, increase the range of affordability levels of housing in Piedmont, affirmatively further fair housing, and create new incentives for growth.
Since March 20, 2023, the City Council has taken actions or conducted study sessions for new 6th Cycle Housing Element programs as part of 18 public meetings and agenda items. As a result, the City of Piedmont has made significant progress implementing the 77 programs in the 6th Cycle Housing Element.
The presentation will provide a summary of programs that have been implemented as well as programs that are expected to be presented to the City Council at meetings in 2025.
