Dear Council members,
I have been following and commenting on the MCSP for the past 3 years and have received consistent notices of City Planning and Council meetings — EXCEPT FOR THE 11/17 STUDY SESSION. I only found out about this meeting from Winifred Walters, who covers Council meetings for the PLWV.
WHY has this public meeting not been publicized and notice posted and/or sent to constituents who are extremely interested in the future of Moraga Canyon? WHY are you holding this important meeting in the Piedmont Church, where I assume there will be no video recording and no Zoom availability and at a time when most people are working? Will there be minutes taken? At your last study session in April at the HS Library, there were not even any minutes taken of a very informative session.
The information in the Staff Report is extremely important and should be widely available to Piedmont residents, with clear understanding of the ramifications of your decision on the Surplus Lands Act.
My Initial Reaction to this information:
The prospect of building more low-income — and now adding very low-income —housing in this isolated part of Piedmont, a mile from the center of town, with no public transportation, and bordered by a heavy traffic arterial unsafe for pedestrians is morally appalling and a disgrace to Piedmont.
I urge you, once again, to seriously consider alternative housing sites in Piedmont before you go any further with this already incredibly costly, infeasible plan.
Thank you for your consideration.
