SUBJECT: Consideration of the Establishment of and Appointments to an Ad Hoc Council Subcommittee for Selection of the 2026 Volunteer of the Year and Young Volunteer of the Year Recipients

RECOMMENDATION
Establish an Ad Hoc Council Subcommittee and appoint two members tasked with reviewing nominations and selecting the recipients of the 2025 Volunteer and Young Volunteer of the Year Award.
BACKGROUND
The City Council adopted a Volunteer of the Year Policy on January 20, 2026, which established the selection process for the Volunteer and Young Volunteer of the Year recipients. Candidates will be evaluated based on a Council approved scoring rubric. An Ad Hoc Council Subcommittee will review the nomination forms and select the honorees. • Subcommittee Composition: Two members will provide for an efficient review process. • Duties: The subcommittee will meet one time to review the nominations advanced by staff through the approved scoring rubric and select a single award recipient for both Volunteer of the Year and Young Volunteer of the Year.
• Timeline: The subcommittee’s work is expected to begin on March 30 and conclude by April 13 in time for the annual recognition reception.
