SUBJECT/TITLE:
NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE PRICE CANYON ROAD SLOPE REPAIR
PROJECT
RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the City Manager to sign, and the City Clerk to record, a Notice of Completion for the Price Canyon Road Slope Repair Project.
BACKGROUND:
On August 17, 2021, the City Council awarded a contract to S. Chaves Construction for the Price Canyon Road Slope Repair Project. The project repaired a damaged portion of Price Canyon Road that experienced cracking and settlement of the asphalt in the travel way and shoulder areas and undercutting of adjacent curbs during storm events in January 2017. City staff successfully obtained Federal Emergency Relief (ER) funding through the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Caltrans Local Assistance (Caltrans LA) for completion of the repair of the damaged portion of Price Canyon Road.
Conclusion and Recommendation
S. Chaves Construction has completed the contracted services and the Price Canyon Road Slope Repair project has been completed in accordance with the plans, specifications, and contract documents. Staff recommends that the City Council accept the project as complete and authorize the Notice of Completion (Attachment 1) to be recorded at the County Clerk’s office.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no direct fiscal impact associated with this action.
ALTERNATIVES:
1.Since S. Chaves Construction has completed its contractual obligations, the only option recommended is for City Council to approve the Notice of Completion.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION AND ACCEPTANCE
FOR THE PRICE CANYON ROAD SLOPE REPAIR PROJECT
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the City of Pismo Beach in the County of San Luis Obispo, State of California, as follows:
1. That on the 17th of May 2022, the project hereunder described was considered completed and accepted by the City Council of the City of Pismo Beach.
2. That the description of said project is the Price Canyon Road Slope Repair Project for the City of Pismo Beach.
3. That the name of the political subdivision controlling said project is the City of Pismo Beach, in the County of San Luis Obispo, State of California, whose address is 760 Mattie Road, Pismo Beach, CA 93449.
4. That the name of the contractor on said project is S. Chaves Construction, 11545 Los Osos Valley Road, Suite C-3, San Luis Obispo, CA 93405.
5. The name of the Surety of the project is Everest Reinsurance Company, 1340 Treat Blvd., Suite 450, Walnut Creek, CA 94597.
