Subject: Council Meeting TONIGHT 8/2/2022, Comment on Agenda Item 11.13, Extension of Interim Urgency Ordinance Imposing Moratorium Prohibiting Issuance of STR Licenses E)demal Email
Gentlemen and ladies:

We have owned and lived in our home at 147 Seacliff Drive for more than 30 years, and we have had a Short -Term Rental license for three years. We faithfully comply with all City STR regulations, pay all TOT and other taxes, and have had absolutely no complaints.

The context of the initial adoption of the Interim Urgency Ordinance on June 21, the recitals and findings of fact defining the need for and application of the Interim Urgency Ordinance of June 21 and the extension of August 2, and in the staff report in support of the proposed August 2 extension ordinance, have consistently been that the moratorium is intended to prohibit only issuance of new STR licenses. However, the actual proposed moratorium language itself (Section 2) does not explicitly state that.

Our only comment is that clarification needs to be added to the proposed language of Ordinance 0- 2022-XXX (Section 2) to the effect that the moratorium prohibits issuance of new permits only, and does not prohibit issuance during the moratorium of renewals of permits existing prior to the moratorium, like ours.

Thank you.
