RESOLUTION NO. R-2022-090
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PISMO BEACH,
CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING THE SOLE -SOURCE PURCHASE OF EIGHT ARCHER 1200 ANTI -VEHICLE BARRIERS FROM MERIDIAN RAPID DEFENSE GROUP IN THE AMOUNT OF $160,531.49 IN FY 2023
WHEREAS, the City of Pismo Beach hosts many special events throughout the year that take place within the street, the largest of which is the annual Pismo Beach Car Show; and
WHEREAS, the City is taking the proactive approach of enhancing visitor safety at these events: and
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 Capital Projects Fund budget includes sufficient funds to support the purchase of vehicle barriers; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department researched effective temporary vehicle barriers and determined that the Meridian Rapid Defense Group's Anti -Vehicle Barriers would be the best method to protect the public during large events, providing a number of advantages over the City's current barrier systems; and
WHEREAS, due to the specialty nature of this product, it is currently only available from one manufacturer, therefore, this procurement is being recommended as a "sole -source" purchase.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Pismo Beach hereby authorizes the sole source purchase of eight Archer 1200 Anti -Vehicle Barriers from Meridian Rapid Defense Group in the amount of $160,531.49 (Exhibit A).
UPON MOTION OF Council Member Blake, seconded by Council Member Newton, the foregoing resolution was adopted by the City Council of the City of Pismo Beach this 18th day of October 2022, by the following vote:
