• Week of 12/7-CAL FIRE/Pismo Beach Fire hosted the Urban Search & Rescue (US&R) drill. This drill was land and sea based with several victims stranded on a cliff face and floating in the ocean. Fire Departments from around the County attended the drill even in the rainy weather. Participants from the local Kayak Shop participated as victims to make the drill as real as possible.

Administration/Vegetation Management
• CAL FIRE is working around the community to improve wildfire safety. The 1000 Hills VMP has most of the control line in place. The VMP is located east of City Hall off 1000 Hills Road and is about 140 acres in size. This burn is connected to the old Avila Fire Burn Scar and will be used to help better protect Pismo Beach, Edna and rural Arroyo Grande from a Wildland Fire. On 11/29-Fire staff hosted a Community Meeting at the Pismo Beach Veterans’ Hall to brief the community of the VMP and establish a burn window (dates). There were 280 community contacts made during the briefing in person and online. The same successful November 2022 Activity Report
