I am called by archaeokxjmts from all ovef the state to help them identify the bricks in their ckjs, Upon m%oitation by Effie McDermott, f had the great fortune to see the historic Pismo Grammar Schcoll at 1000 Belo Street. Ms. McDermott invited me to examine the bnck in the school building a" with other historic bnck budOngs in Pismo Beach,
I was Impressed by the architectural beauty of the oiu jchW bud&n4, which, in itself, stands as a rrxiriument for struGtlxe, bust duCing the 1920s constructed of San Lurs Obispo brick, a local building material_ This building rs the best exam of the point set brickwork of 21 ther bn6 b+uiWrngs in the regw. The only other example Currenthy identified is the srreal stare at 600 Dolliver Street in Pismo Beacb built in the late 1920s, Thar broci used in the Nsrno Grammar School were among the f4st rrr �y the Fauistpch Brtothers in 1922.1923 and throw are now rare_ The Fautstic7h Brothers were contractors hom bang Beach.
