Dear Mayor Ed Waage, Councilpersons MaryAnn Reiss, Stacy Inman, Marcia Guthrie and Scott Newton:
I noticed that Jim Lewis is on the city upcoming calendar for a performance review. I thought I'd share a few of my observations on his skills and accomplishments.
As a long time resident, I believe Jim has been one of the best city managers our city has had.
He has built an excellent team and works with staff and public in a positive and problem solving manner. During Jim Lewis tenure, our city has seen great improvements to Shell Beach, the pier, our parks and infrastructure. Pismo has become more beautiful, friendly, fiscally responsible, and has a wonderful future. Jim has overseen so many accomplishments with the council's direction, it's hard to provide a full list. But we can all enjoy the Clifford Marshall house, our beautiful parks, the gorgeous new pier improvements and the lovely shell beach road improvements.
I personally feel our roads and infrastructure have been kept well, our hotel, retail, and tourism industry is flourishing. There are in roads in affordable housing. Our city is viewed with respect and a bit of envy. Jim represents the core values of our community. He is always courteous, he listens objectively, and done an excellent job balancing growth and keeping Pismo Beach the Pismo Beach we all love.
It can't be an easy job to be city manager. And I imagine, as any public job, it's difficult to keep everyone happy all the time. But I hope you take the time to reflect on how well things have been and trust he serves our city well and with total commitment.
Thanks for your time!
Warmest regards,
Gary Grossman
