PISMO BEACH COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
Agenda Item #12.F
SUBJECT/TITLE:
DIRECTION ON DOG PARK LOCATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Provide direction on the next steps toward the development of a dog park.
BACKGROUND:
At the City Council Meeting of May 16, 2023, the City Council directed the City Manager to withdraw the City Manager’s Appeal of the Planning Commission’s April 25, 2023 denial of the then-proposed dog park project at Spyglass Park. That item is no longer being discussed and the denial of the application by the Planning Commission therefore stands.
At the same meeting, the Council directed staff to bring back a discussion on whether to refer the consideration of a dog park to the Parks, Recreation and Beautification Commission for additional feedback and discussion, or to table the item. Staff is prepared to receive additional direction this evening.
Conclusion and Recommendation
Staff recommends the City Council provide direction on next steps for a dog park, if desired.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no direct fiscal impact from this report. Should the Council direct staff to schedule this matter for a City Council hearing or for consideration by a subordinate body, the cost will be absorbed by the adopted budget.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Request additional information from staff.
