PISMO BEACH COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
Agenda Item #9.G
SUBJECT/TITLE:

AMENDMENT #1 TO THE AGREEMENT WITH PAVEMENT ENGINEERING, INC. FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES DURING CONSTRUCTION OF THE 2022

PAVING PROJECT
RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute Amendment #1 to the existing Professional Services Agreement with Pavement Engineering, Inc. in the amount of $156,030.50 for Engineering Services During Construction of the 2022 Paving Project.

BACKGROUND:

On April 19, 2022 a Professional Services Agreement with Pavement Engineering, Inc. (PEI) was approved by City Council in the amount of $252,450 for Engineering Services During Construction of the 2022 Paving Project.

Construction of the project is ongoing, and over the course of the project significant work items outside of the initial project scope were added to the project including:
Monumentation and benchmark perpetuation services
Striping modifications on Mattie Road to accommodate roadway widening Prepared control point exhibits to assist the contractor’s surveyor on Mattie Road Re-designs to the Price Street median to accommodate the revised parking layout Pavement evaluations on Vista Del Mar, Placentia Ave. and Boeker Ave.

These items all arose from betterments made to the project after the contract was awarded that have had a positive impact to the project. PEI has provided a cost proposal to cover the increased work that has been performed to date of $156,030.50. The total contract cost including the proposed Amendment #1 is $408,480.50.

Conclusion and Recommendation
Staff recommends the Council adopt a Resolution (Attachment 1) authorizing the City Manager to execute Amendment #1 (Attachment 1.A) to the existing PEI contract to cover the additional work that has been performed.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The fiscal impact of adopting the attached Resolution approving Amendment #1 to the PEI agreement is $156,030.50 from the Capital Projects Fund 2022 Paving Project. The project budget included $2,426,452 in contingency funds. There is sufficient budget available in the project’s contingency budget to support this additional work and related costs.
