Good morning,
I just want to thank the city council and staff for their recommendation in banning new STVR and keeping STVR in the downtown area, and not within our neighborhood communities. I also want too thank Mr. Lopez, who lives next door to 119 Karen Way, for attending and speaking during public comment and for other residents who spoke up about their experiences with STVR in their neighborhoods.
I am sorry I was not in attendance at last night's meeting, but Mr. Maples who owns but does not live at 119 Karen Way threatened our neighbors again over the weekend that he was planning to sue everyone on our street, which made me hesitant to attend the city council meeting in person. This was communicated to me by another neighbor who had a conversation with Mr. Maples over last weekend, so I did not want to publicly speak in fear of being retaliated against with a suit. I also saw that Mr. Maples attended the meeting last night‐‐I was worried and thought he might attend and was afraid to be in confrontation as I have previously been threatened by a suit by Mr. Maples, so for that reason I am glad I did not attend in person and just watched the meeting online.
I honestly can't believe Mr. Maples sat there in the meeting hearing all this about the "bad actors" and the requirements for "primary residence" knowing full well that he is NOT living in his residence, and that he is NOT in compliance.
I also want to thank the council for supporting Pismo Beach residents and keeping hotels out of our community.
As for the grandfathering in of all the STVR, how does this affect the current situation at 119 Karen Way? How much longer must we live in fear with threats of suits? How much longer do I need to record and monitor Mr. Maples non‐ compliance in not residing/using the home as primary residence at the 119 Karen Way home and pretending this is his primary residence by parking his car in the driveway? Does parking your car in the driveway but getting picked up by someone else and leaving the home vacant constitute a primary residence? What strategies/tactics will the city use to confirm compliance on a primary residence for a STVR?
I'm sending you all the latest calendar again as our neighbors continue to track the non‐compliance of primary residence at 119 Karen Way. I don't know when this will ever end but our neighbors are resilient and will continue to monitor the non‐compliance until the city has enough evidence to revoke the license. Would you recommend us taking photos of the home at dusk showing that no lights are on each night? What does the city recommend we do to show he is not living at the home? Can the city swing by and chalk his tires in the driveway to show the truck is not moving day after day and is parked just for show?
2 Please feel free to contact me with any questions, and again I wish to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation against me by Mr. Maples, please do not use my name in any correspondence.
Best.
