Council Members,
The Chapman Estate Foundation is in support of the Authorization of a Change Order for the construction of the ADA bathroom addition at the Chapman Estate. We, as a foundation and with the help of community members have spent years helping the City to improve the property. Many of the projects include the stabilization of the windmill structure, bringing back the rare tuberous begonias and repairing the Begonia House, installing and repairing lighting throughout the grounds in addition to many, many hours organizing and curating the inside of the house up to museum quality.
The hundreds of thousands of dollars we have raised through in kind and monetary donations have all gone directly into the Chapman Estate Foundation fund. We look forward to having access to the inside of the house so that we can begin tours, host the dinners that we have auctioned to six groups as well as many other exciting projects that we, as a team with the City, can work together to provide to our community and neighbors. The Chapman Estate has the potential to be an iconic Cultural Center here in Pismo Beach.
