COASTAL DEVELOPMENT PERMIT, CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT,
ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW PERMIT, AND VESTING TENTATIVE TRACT MAP 3181 FOR A RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISION AND MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION.
LOCATION – 00 BEACHCOMBER DRIVE. THE PROJECT IS WITHIN THE COASTAL ZONE AND IS APPEALABLE TO THE COASTAL COMMISSION. APN 010-144-025.
Dear City Council Members:
The above project has been forwarded to you from the Planning Commission from their last meeting, for your approval. I am hoping you will review the recommendation for the open space area’s community garden and consider a more community based use, such as a pickle ball court or something more useful to the public. Most buyers that will live in this new development will either be part time residents or more interested in their beach access than a community garden. The largest reason of all is our limited water resource and lack of enforcement to monitor its use as a garden. Most residents hire Gardners to maintain their landscape, use drought tolerant plants, install imitation grass and attempt to limit their water usage.
Please reconsider approving this project with something more appropriate than a community garden.
