Resource Parent (Foster Parent)
Resource Family Approval is the process through which community members apply, receive education and training, complete background clearances and meet state requirements to care for children and youth in foster care.
The primary goal of foster care is to reunite children with their parents. Children in foster care need supportive adults to provide loving homes until they can be safely reunited with their family.
When children enter foster care, they face many uncertainties. They have to leave their homes and families and may have to move to an unfamiliar community. Children benefit from the support and security a resource family can provide. A consistent, nurturing caregiver can help a child cope with separation and make sure they have opportunities to be a kid.
Options for Recovery (OFR
Resource parents designated as "OFR" are specially
trained to support the needs of medically fragile
children ages 0-5 and take an active role in the
reunification process through mentorship of birth
parents.
Respite Care Provider
Respite care is a crucial support to resource parents.
Providing respite care is an option for those who want
to foster but are unable to commit to longer term
placements. Respite care providers are trained
similarly to resource parents and complete the same
