RE: May 7, 2024 - City Council Meeting
Item 12B Residential Sidewalk Policy
Also, sidewalk and parking conditions imposed at 728 Ocean Blvd.

Dear Council Members:

We are writing to say that we are against the practice of some City employees trying coerce private homeowners into paying for public works. That is what our tax dollars are for.

They intimidate homeowners into doing public improvements in exchange for building permits. It is discouraging to see that this is still going on.

The requirements at 728 Ocean were not practical or necessary.

The City is working on plans to replace the stairs at Pier Ave and has done wave action studies for the purpose of building a seawall to preserve the bluff. Stormwater drains would likely be required on Leeward in conjunction with the construction of the seawall. Parking on Ocean Blvd would be able to remain the same as it was before.

We are aware that there is a parking shortage in Pismo but trying to put cut outs in front of a few, random, private residences is a bad idea. If the City wants a parking lot they need to buy it and put it somewhere else. Not in front of a residence in a quiet family neighborhood. We don’t wan to loose our small town feel and we know our neighbors are in agreement. Please stop cutting up our family communities and prevent them from turning into downtown tourist attractions.

Sincerely,
Ernie and Pamela Rozo
388 Windward Ave.
