Shell Beach, CA
Dear City Council Members:

My name is Heidi McIntire and I have been a longtime resident of Shell Beach. I am currently in the process of designing, planning and hopefully permitting a new home to be built at 310 Montecito Ave. It has been during this process that I became aware of the curb, gutter, and sidewalk requirement for new construction and extensive remodels.

I am not in support of this requirement.

There are aesthetic, functional, and safety components to this requirement that I respectfully ask City Council to take into consideration. I believe the sidewalk requirement would have a negative impact on Old Shell Beach and the character of the community would be jeopardized.

In speaking with neighbors and other residents in the Old Shell Beach area regarding this topic, I have found most are aware of the requirement and I did not find one that supported it.

In the Staff Report submitted for the May 7th Council Meeting, staff recommends "Old Shell Beach being excepted from the requirements entirely, unless Council directs otherwise at this time." It is my hope that Council agrees with and approves this recommendation from Staff.

Respectfully,
Heidi McIntire
