Hello,
I am writing for the Chapman Estate. I am a resident of Shell Beach, and I am fortunate to experience the stunning natural views of the estate daily. It is important to ensure the future of this valuable piece of history and cultural hub for the last several decades. We must carry this legacy for future generations and protect our architectural past.
It would be a huge loss to see this iconic community landmark sold and lost to the public. If the city does decide to divest, I support transferring the property to the nonprofit Chapman Estate Foundation to preserve it for community use. I have been a volunteer since I moved to the area in 2017, and I have witnessed the hard work of unpaid locals and those who travel to maintain the diverse offerings of this majestic property. Whether it is the art, the horticulture, or the stunning natural views, people are drawn to the estate.
Transferring the property to a 501(c)(3)nonprofit ensures its continued public access and eliminates taxpayer costs.
I stand with a community united in preserving the Chapman Estate.
Sincerely,
Laura Borjon
