Dear City Council,
I am writing to express my support regarding the future of the Chapman Estate.
The Chapman Estate is an integral part of the fabric of Shell Beach. Not only is the Estate a beautiful piece of architecture, it is also a community landmark which should continue to be enjoyed by local residents and tourists alike. My own parents spoke dearly of their visits to the home of Mr.Chapman and Mr.Shidler, whether it was a dinner event or for music in the garen, during their more than 60 years here in Shell Beach.
The fact that the Estate was given to the City of Pismo Beach should not be disregarded nor diminished. Perhaps the transfer of the Estate to the Chapman Estate Foundation may be the best option to ensure property stewardship as well as community benefits.
The City of Pismo Beach has goals which include preserving coastal access, enhancing tourism and investing in community spaces. The Chapman estate is the perfect representation of these goals.
