Honorable Mayor and Members of the Pismo Beach City Council, My name is Larry Schmidt and I am the Successor Trustee for the Clifford W. Chapman Trust. Clifford trusted me to execute his Trust and to be his voice after his death.
Now is a time that his voice should be heard. I can say with absolute certainty that he would be in favor of passing ownership of his beloved property from the City to the Chapman Foundation. The Foundation shares Clifford's passion for the property and for its future service to our community.
Clifford took many risks during his life, and in some ways this decision that the Council is making now, is one of them. Success never comes easily, but the Foundation has opportunities available to it that the City does not.
I say, speaking for Clifford Chapman, that the Foundation deserves a chance at making this work. I encourage you to please do the right thing by honoring the Distribution Agreement. Clifford not only trusted me, he trusted you also.
