Hello,
I am writing to urge you to support the preservation and revitalization of the Chapman Estate, a historic property that has the potential to benefit our community in numerous and vital ways.

This estate is not just a landmark—it is an untapped economic and cultural resource that, if managed properly, could become a major asset for our city.

I live just a few blocks from this magnificent estate and have seen the impact it makes on both visitors and residents alike. With its 1930s Tudor mansion, breathtaking ocean views, peaceful gardens, an impressive begonia house, an orchard, windmill, and lighthouse, it captivates passers-by. These are not just charming features; they are unique draws that could attract visitors, generate revenue, and create new social and economic opportunities for our local community.

Rather than allowing this property to deteriorate or be dismissed as a financial burden, we should be using it to its full potential. Many historic sites across the country have successfully transitioned into self-sustaining community hubs through innovative programming. The Chapman Estate is perfectly suited for this kind of revitalization.

There is demand for unique experiences that could be offered here:
• Wellness and yoga classes on the lawns—People pay a premium for peaceful, scenic locations to practice yoga and meditation. Regular wellness retreats could bring in visitors and support local businesses.
• Exclusive dining experiences in the mansion—The estate's historic dining room could be used for curated dinners that showcase local chefs and bring in revenue from those seeking something unique.
• Cultural events and community gatherings—The mansion, gardens, and grounds offer space for everything from book clubs to intimate concerts and art shows, giving residents more ways to connect while generating funds.

These ideas are not hypothetical. Other cities have turned historic properties into thriving cultural and economic centers through thoughtful investment and creative programming.

Rather than letting this estate be a financial drain, we have the opportunity to make it self- sustaining while enhancing our city's reputation as a place that values both history and innovation.

As a resident of this community, I ask you to consider what this estate could become with the right support. Investing in its future is not just a matter of preservation; it is a chance to create something meaningful and lasting for our city.

Sincerely,
Cody Steele
