TITLE:
Fire Preparedness and Safety Report
RECOMMENDATION:
No action recommended; for information only.
DISCUSSION:
On January 21, 2025, the City Council directed staff to return with a fire preparedness update presentation. City staff, Cal Fire Battalion Chief Paul Lee, and San Luis Obispo County Fire Safe Council Executive Director Dan Turner will deliver an update on Wildland Fire Safety. Topics covered will include:
• Wildland Fire Safety,
• Partnership with Fire Safe Council,
• City-initiated activities related to management and building construction, • Possible Municipal Code amendments,
• City water system capabilities to manage a fire, and • Fire Hazardous Severity Zone Maps.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The report is for informational purposes only and has no fiscal impact.
