Direct Benefit to the City of Pismo Beach: These camps bring in families from all over SLO County for the day. We use the funds to pay local surf schools to provide surf lessons and equipment to the attendees. We also purchase lunch from local businesses to feed the families that attend.
Support Fiscal 2026 City Goals: We will use the beaches of Pismo Beach to teach people how to learn how to surf while they are going through the trama of having a family member going through the cancer battle. For us, the beach and ocean are a form of therapy that we like to share with our participants. We leave the beach cleaner than we left it and we educate our participants in being good stewards of the ocean and beach. We believe this is an excellent use of the beaches of Pismo Beach.
Priority of Needs: Pure Stoke Surf Camps for kids, Cancer Survivor Camps, and our Grom Camps.
Program Description: SFH hosts 4 Pure Stoke Surf Camps, 2 Cancer Survivor Camps, and 3 Grom Camps each year in Pismo Beach. These one-day camps are free to kids and adults all geared toward helping families going through the fight against cancer. More details can be found on our website, surfingforhope.org
