City Council Members,
Do the people living in Pismo Beach deserve to know what building projects are being proposed in their city? My immediate answer is YES. But to actually be made aware of proposed building(s) a person has to sign up online at the city website to receive notification. (I can think of 5 people who live around me right now who wouldn't be able to do that.) I seem to remember a time when a proposed building notification was sent in the mail to each residence. People don't know what is being proposed, so how can they participate in their government? Now you have to sign up on the city website to receive Public Hearing Notices. I’m looking right now at a Public Hearing Notice (online) for a 176 square-foot addition. Do you think there would be more input from the people who live in Pismo if they were told what building(s) were being proposed in their city? I think so.

Those people who don’t care, don’t care, but many residents would appreciate being made aware of something as large as the Gateway project being proposed in their city before not after breaking ground. The Grossman project is a prime example.

I sent out a simple Change.org email some months back showing the proposed Gateway project just to see what response I would get and within a few days 301 people had responded (99% had no idea). They had NO idea. That seems wrong to me. This project is not a garage being built or an extra shed being added to a property. This project will affect just about everyone living in Pismo Beach, one way or another, from the north to south.

Thank you, Meridee Kramb
