Dear Members of the Pismo Beach City Council,
My name is Monica Rejniak, and I am a Shell Beach community member. I am writing to share my perspective as someone who has had the privilege of attending several community events at the Estate over the years, including Open Gates evenings with live music on Friday nights, interior and garden tours, and gala events. These experiences have been meaningful not only to me, but to many members of our community who value access to this special place.

I would love to see even more diverse and inclusive outreach events at the Estate in the future —events that invite broader participation and strengthen community connection. However, I believe this can only be done if the City follows the terms of the distribution agreement, honors the commitment to preserve the property for community recreational uses, and offers the property first to a nonprofit organization that will manage the Estate in accordance with the agreement’s provisions for community and charitable public use.

The Estate has long served as a space for shared cultural, recreational, and charitable experiences. Protecting that purpose is essential to ensuring that future generations of Pismo Beach residents can continue to benefit from it in ways that are consistent with the original intent of the agreement.

Thank you for your time, your service, and your consideration of this perspective. I appreciate the opportunity to share my support for preserving the Estate as a true community asset.

Sincerely,
Monica Rejniak
Shell Beach Community Member
