Dear Mayor Waage and Pismo Beach City Council,
I am writing to urge the City of Pismo Beach to abide by and follow the wishes of Clifford Chapman regarding his gift of the beloved Chapman Estate to the City. Clifford’s intent was to give the Shell Beach community access to the beautiful and unrivaled property for public use and enjoyment. Please remember the City agreed to abide by his wishes by accepting his gift.
The Chapman Estate Foundation has done an excellent job of opening the property to neighbors and visitors during Open Gates. It would be a travesty for the City of Pismo Beach to fall back on the agreement by utilizing this one of a kind property for residential development. Please consider keeping Clifford’s wishes alive by honoring his plan to share it with the neighborhood that he so loved.
