Dear Pismo Beach City Council,
As a resident of Pismo Beach, I am writing to support item #12.B on the March 17, 2026 council agenda to approve the expenditure plan for a potential transportation sales tax measure. I commute daily between San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach and frequently encounter traffic congestion on US 101. This sales tax measure will provide local funding, including match funds for state and federal programs, to fix roads and improve the overall county transportation network. We cannot afford to be selfish and only support local projects. Regional projects matter as evident by the heavy traffic many individuals experience on US 101 in Pismo Beach. The proposed ½ cent sales tax is a minimal cost to residents but would capture significant revenue from the crowds of tourists that visit Pismo Beach every year.

Thank you for your consideration of my comment.

Signed,
Lance Okuno
