A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PISMO BEACH, CALIFORNIA RECOGNIZING APRIL 2026 AS MONTH OF THE CHILD
AND CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
WHEREAS, the City of Pismo Beach recognizes that every moment in a child’s life is an opportunity for learning and growth, and that the quality of these experiences helps determine a child’s resilience, well-being, and success in school and in life; and WHEREAS, all children deserve caring adults, safe environments, and meaningful opportunities that allow them to thrive, and it is the shared responsibility of families, educators, community members, and local leaders to support children during their most important years of development; and
WHEREAS, children deserve our collective investment, and investing in strong early childhood systems—including access to quality childcare and early learning opportunities—supports not only the healthy development of children and the stability of families, but also contributes to the economic vitality and long-term prosperity of our community; and WHEREAS, April—Month of the Child and Child Abuse Prevention Month—provides an opportunity to celebrate the wonder and promise of childhood while reaffirming our commitment to ensuring that every child has access to safe, nurturing environments at home, in child care, at school, and throughout the community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Pismo Beach joins community partners, including the San Luis Obispo County Early Care and Education Planning Council, in working toward a future where all families can find and afford quality care for their children and where early childhood professionals are valued for the essential role they play in building strong foundations for children and families; and
WHEREAS, during Child Abuse Prevention Month, our community also raises awareness of the many children who experience abuse or neglect and renews our commitment to strengthening families, supporting prevention efforts, and ensuring that every child grows up safe, supported, and valued.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Pismo Beach hereby proclaims April 2026 as the “Month of the Child” and “Child Abuse Prevention Month” and encourages all residents to recognize the importance of investing in children, supporting families, and working together to ensure that every child in our community has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive.
