Comments on Item 12B of the Sep 1 2026 City council meetings.
Renaming palisades Park to Mary Ann Reiss Park.
As a residence of Pismo Beach, I am opposed to renaming the Palisades park for the following reasons:
Less than two years ago City of Pismo just installed new signage for the Palisades park at some expense to US as residences. And now you are proposing to change it out?
Secondly, I feel the cost of $15K could be spent in more meaningful ways. Basic stairway maintenance for beach access or fire prevention could be a better place to spend this money. How about a brass dedication plaque with a budget of $700 or less for Mary Ann.
Finally, I applaud her years of public service and guidance and would be surprised if Mary Ann Reiss would be supportive of this waste of money ( In my opinion) when she was the stalwart of sticking to budgetary constraints.
Thanks you
