Dear Mr. Mayor and members of the City Council,
I see coming on the .Agenda for 9/15 you are being asked to approve a new contract for The Pismo Beach Car Show with Ansa Productions, Inc. This is a company I am not familiar with and have no idea how they will run our car show.

My wife, Clare, and I, having been coming to the Pismo Beach Car Show for app. 20 years, or more. Before we moved here in 2018, we would drive our two classic cars to Pismo Beach from Cupertino. We have usually brought two classic cars and had two spots, grandfathered in by Just Cruzin’. We had those two spots for as long as I can remember. One thing I can say for Just Cruzin’ is they took care of us and also to all their long term supporters. Every year, as long as we paid the very reasonable fees, we knew where we would be. Now, that is gone, and we don’t know where we will be at car show time starting in 2027.

I have read over the contract between the City of Pismo Beach, and Ansa Productions, Inc.

There is a lot of language protecting the city and what will happen if Ansa Productions, Inc. does not perform. There is language in the contract stating that the contractor need only provide results. There is nothing in the contract regarding giving Pismo Beach residents preferential treatment. It seems to me that would be a priority to consider. Does the city not offer first right of refusal to Pismo Beach residents to buy a spot on the pier for Fourth of July?
I find it a bit disconcerting that the city employees who negotiated this contract did not provide any protections for Pismo Beach residents who would want to enter their classic cars in our home town show. Please amend the contract so that Pismo Beach residents can rest assured that they will have a spot in the show if they so desire. I also know that there are many residents in the city who have classic cars and would be very disappointed if they could not enter their cherished classics in our home town car show. Please consider my request.

I know this a big ask at this late date, but I do not recall the city of Pismo Beach asking for residents feedback on this very important negotiation that affects us all. Especially since there are so many classic car owners in the city. If you did ask for input, sorry I missed it, and I apologize for this late request.

Best regards,
James Prichard
