Good morning, City Council Members,
I am writing this letter, as I may not be able to attend today’s Special Meeting of the Pismo Beach City Council due to a conflict and given such short notice. I just learned yesterday afternoon, Monday, September 28, that Item 3B on today’s agenda will address renaming South Palisades Park to Mary Ann Reiss Park.

I thank the Council for providing more clarity on the park to be renamed. I am disappointed that it required me to submit a formal cure and correct request in order for this to transpire.

Please consider providing clarity as to which of the South Palisades Park locations is to be renamed. Perhaps you mean to rename both the park at 190 Beachcomber and the park at 165 N. Silver Shoals, but it is not clear based on the text of Agenda Item 3B or the attached resolution.

This has been a very frustrating experience for me and for the community. I urge the city council members, legal counsel, and staff to be more transparent in future actions impacting the residents and visitors of Pismo Beach. It is quite concerning that some council members and staff do not feel that incorporating resident voice into decisions made on their behalf to be unnecessary. Voters have put their trust in you to represent their needs, concerns, and safety and to serve with integrity.

Sincerely,
Rosemary Wrenn, Ed.D.
