Recently, the Placentia Veterans Committee discussed expanding the program to all "Active" and "Honorably Discharged" veterans from Placentia including honoring veterans posthumously. This would increase eligibility to those families that wish to honor those additional veterans within the City. On August 1, 2022, the Placentia Veterans Committee voted to recommend this expansion to add honorably discharged veterans to the program, which was approved. This action will expand the banner program throughout the city to include local veterans.

The cost for the banners will remain $260.00 per banner. The display areas will remain on the same arterial roadway designated areas. These areas consist of Kraemer Boulevard, North to Golden Avenue and Yorba Linda Boulevard, from Bradford to Rose Drive. The banners will stay in place for no more than two years. With Council approval, new application forms and the City's website will be updated with the recommended changes. Additionally, updating current program requirements on the City's website will ensure the public is aware of the revision. Upon City Council approval of the program amendments, City Staff will begin the application phase of the program and complete all work to display the banners in November 2022.

FISCAL IMPACT:

All costs related to the program are paid through fees by individual applicants. The total cost for each banner to be manufactured, safely displayed and removed, and administering the program is $260.00. There is no fiscal impact to the City of Placentia.
