DISCUSSION:

Mr. Chavez has served on the Historical Committee since 2012. During his tenure he contributed his efforts to participating and completing numerous Committee tasks such as the Historical Committee Landmark Brochure, spearheading high school theatrical plays at the Bradford House, soliciting valuable input for the General Plan's Conservation Element, and laying the groundwork for a proposed Historical Preservation Plan. Mr. Chavez has indicated his desire to resign from the Committee via correspondence dated August 18, 2022.

Mr. Bushman has served on the Historical Committee since 2002, but his contributions to the Committee predates the City's recognized appointment date which dates back to the early 1990s.

Mr. Bushman has been a consistent and invaluable member of the Committee. He has participated and contributed to a number of projects which include the City Hall History Wall, soliciting input for the General Plan's Conservation Element, and assisted yearly at the Historical Committee booth at Heritage Days. Mrs. Bushman has indicated to Staff that due to factors beyond Mr. Bushman's control, he is unable to continue fulling his duties as a Historical Committee member and kindly requested his removal from this position. At the October 25, 2022, the Historical Committee meeting adhered to Mrs. Bushman's wishes and through a majority vote acted to honorably remove Mr. Bushman from his Committee duties.

Appointment to this and other vacancies are anticipated to be made as part of the City's Commission/Committee application/recruitment process.
