City Council Meeting — Add Agenda Item
The City created the Placentia Fire and Life Safety Department in July 2020 and the Placentia Firefighter's Association (PFA) was formed and formally recognized in December 2020. In February 2021, City Staff and legal counsel began working with the PFA to create their first Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
At the time the agenda for tonight's meeting was posted last week, the terms of the MOU had not yet been finalized. The parties continued to work diligently, however, to try and reach a final agreement. Earlier today the MOU was finalized. One of the terms is for a one-time stipend to be paid to employees in December 2022. Due to the length of time involved in creating this initial MOU, and due to the specific clause regarding the stipend and tax reporting obligations, the December 6th Council meeting would be the last opportunity in 2022 to present this item to City Council for approval. Therefore it is important for the Council to consider this MOU at tonight's meeting, and I request that the MOU be added to the City Council December 6, 2022 agenda.
