B. Three (3) weeks prior to the parade date weekly updates/reminders about the heat policy will be sent to band directors. The week of the parade daily updates/reminders will be sent out as necessary.
C. In the event that the morning of the parade there will be a combined Relative Humidity and Temperature combination to reach 90 degrees or above, a reduced dress protocol for marching bands will be enacted and enforced. This information will be communicated to the band directors in advance whenever it is possible to do so.
D. Performers will march and compete without jackets, capes, and shako hats. Baseball style hats and Aussie hats are permissible as they create shade and will help cool the wearer. Performers are encouraged to wear matching shirts under their jackets just in case.
E. As buses enter the first staging area of the Parade route, a City staff will greet the band director, remind them of the previously communicated heat policy, and remind/let them know that it has been enacted for all bands. If the band director does not want to comply with the reduced dress, they can decide to not participate in the competition and parade.
F. The heat policy will be enacted for all bands all in fairness of competition/judging.
G. The discussion/arguing of the heat policy/enactment thereof will not be an option the day of the event.
H. Failure to comply with the heat policy shall result in removal of the event.
