Dear City Council Members:
I write to support the recommendation by the staff for Item 12.2 on the agenda for August 26, 2025, Consider an amendment to an agreement with Arts and Culture El Dorado for use of 525 Main Street for Offices and Gallery Space extending the term of the agreement.
As the report notes, Arts and Culture El Dorado fulfills the city’s ‘Strategic Plan Strategy:
Maintain/Improve Quality of Life: 4)Strategy – Encourage and provide space for public art.’ This crucial strategy strengthens the city’s investment in the quality of life of its residents, an important goal for a municipal body that it completes by working in partnership with local organizations and agencies.
In addition, Arts and Culture El Dorado has used its own funding toward the renovation of the building at 525 Main Street and continues to collaborate with the city on further remodeling.
This model of public-private partnership leverages the funding and other resources of both parties.
