CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT
Meeting Date: April 04, 2022
TO: THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCILMEMBERS
SUBJECT: ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. ___-22 APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE ANNUAL BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021/22 FOR PLEASANT
HILL RECREATION AND PARKS DISTRICT SPECIAL EVENT
SPONSORSHIPS
SYNOPSIS
The annual budget for fiscal year 2021/22 was adopted by the City Council on June 22, 2021.
Staff has identified the need for an additional appropriation of $2,250 to the budget for FY 2021/22 to sponsor Pleasant Hill Recreation and Parks special events.
DISCUSSION
The Pleasant Hill Recreation and Parks District submitted the attached Sponsorship Request Letter to the City on March 10th, 2022 for an event sponsorship package totaling $10,250.
On March 15, 2022, the Budget Committee considered the event sponsorship package, and recommended that the City Council approve the request. The sponsorships would be paid from the General Fund and would include a $2,250 adjustment to the FY 2021/22 budget (per the attached resolution), and the remaining $8,000 in sponsorships would be for events occurring in FY 2022/23 and would be included in the FY 2022/23 and 2023/24 two-year budget. Several of the special events have been organized by the District for many years, while some of the events are new. New events are labeled as such in the table below and in the attached letter.
The Recreation and Parks District has organized several successful special events over the years.
These events enhance the quality of life for Pleasant Hill residents and support the local economy by bringing additional people into the area, who may choose to shop and eat at nearby businesses.
