SUBJECT: ADOPT ORDINANCE NO. ___ AMENDING AND REPLACING IN ITS ENTIRETY CHAPTER 3.60 OF THE PLEASANT HILL MUNICIPAL
CODE REGARDING THE COMPOSITION OF THE CITY OF
PLEASANT HILL'S DIVERSITY COMMISSION
SYNOPSIS
In 2021, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 944 to establish the Diversity Commission with one city councilmember included in the Commission’s composition. The proposed ordinance changing the councilmember position to a member of the public was introduced at the March 20, 2023 City Council meeting with opportunity for public comment on the ordinance.
The proposed ordinance is now submitted for second reading and consideration for adoption by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact to adopting the ordinance.
PUBLIC CONTACT
Public contact was made through posting of the City Council agenda on the City’s official notice bulletin board, at the Pleasant Hill Senior Center, and at the Pleasant Hill Police Department.
The agenda and staff report are posted on the City’s web page.
RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION
Adopt the proposed ordinance.
ALTERNATIVES TO RECOMMENDED ACTION
The City Council could choose not to adopt the proposed ordinance and provide additional direction to staff.
