I am writing to you as a resident of Central Pleasant Hill, specifically from the awkward space between Gregory and Boyd neighborhood (not quite Poets Corner yet not quite truly Gregory Gardens). As you work on drawing district lines, I would like to respectfully request that you keep our community together, with the Gregory Gardens neighborhood as much as possible.
I considered Gregory Gardens Plus to be west of Contra Costa Blvd, north of Boyd Rd, and south of Taylor Blvd. Our neighborhood is characterized by its proximity to Downtown Pleasant Hill and Pleasant Hill Park, as well as the fact that our elementary students attend Strandwood or Gregory Gardens Elementary Schools with Pleasant Hill Middle School as the connecting school until College Park.
As a member of this community, I strongly believe that we share a sense of belonging and a common identity.
We are invested in the well-being of our neighborhood, and we take pride in our schools, parks, and local businesses. Splitting our community across different districts could weaken our collective voice and make it harder for us to advocate for our shared interests.
Therefore, I urge you to consider keeping the Gregory Gardens neighborhood intact when you redraw district lines. By doing so, you would demonstrate a commitment to ensuring that our community's voice is heard and that our interests are represented.

I am writing to share my community of interest for the upcoming districting process. As a resident of Northeast Pleasant Hill near Paseo Nogal Park, I urge you to keep this community together when drawing new district lines. The northeast can be identified as the area of Pleasant Hill with the most open park space and closest proximity to Martinez.
We have a unique community that borders Martinez; however, I often drive in and out of Martinez city lines when driving throughout my neighborhood community. I even pass a “Welcome to Martinez” sign on Pleasant Hill Rd and Taylor Blvd (near Sloat Nursery) on days I commute from home. Most of the shopping I do is also in Martinez at the Virginia Hills Shopping Center (CVS, Safeway, Starbucks, Chevron, Bank of America, Cleaners). I walk to both Paseo Nogal Park in Pleasant Hill and Hidden Lakes Park in Martinez. Martinez elementary students in this area are zoned to attend Valhalla, the local elementary school in Northern Pleasant Hill along with Pleasant Hill residents.
Many residents in Northwest Pleasant Hill feel a close connection to Martinez and also to those living in Northeast Pleasant Hill. Most of the students in both Northwest and Northeast Pleasant Hill attend Valhalla Elementary, Valley View Middle School, and College Park High School. When we describe our northeast location to those unfamiliar with Pleasant Hill we usually say “on the Martinez side of Pleasant Hill,” “North Pleasant Hill,” and “close to DVC.” We also use the same routes of transportation into and out of the City as northeast residents. What makes us different from Northeast Pleasant Hill is the proximity to Concord, the Sun Valley Mall Shopping Area/Contra Costa Blvd, and the college community feel in the area.
Driving through the northwest part of town you will see low, medium, and high density single family homes, as well as townhomes, a large senior housing complex, and a few low density apartment complexes. This wide range of housing options makes the northwest area unique. Northeast and Southeast Pleasant Hill have more high density housing and multifamily units than the northwest and are also different from the area south of Grayson/Gregory Rd that are zoned for the same size single family lots.
The main streets in the northwest area are Taylor Blvd, Pleasant Hill/Alhambra Rd, Morello Ave and Grayson/Gregory Rd. I use Taylor Blvd and Pleasant Hill Rd when coming back on Highway 24 from Oakland or the City of Lafayette. I travel Grayson/Gregory Rd on my way to Downtown Pleasant Hill including City Hall, restaurants, and the movie theater. I use Morello or Pleasant Hill Rd/Alhambra when I go to Martinez and when traveling north east on Highway 4. I use the Sunvalley Blvd/Taylor Blvd exit off I-680 North when traveling home from the Cities of Walnut Creek and San Ramon. I included a map of truck and bus routes to aid in the establishment of main streets in this area.
Our community is closely-knit and we share many common interests and concerns including valuing open space parks. We believe that keeping our community together within a single district would allow us to better 2 represent our collective needs and interests. Splitting our community among multiple districts would diminish our ability to have a strong voice in local government and decision-making processes.
As you can see, Northeast Pleasant Hill is a cohesive community that should remain together during the districting process.

Subject: EXTERNAL: Request to keep my community together when drawing district lines Dear Mayor and City Council Members,
I am writing to you today to express my concerns regarding the upcoming districting process. I am a resident of Southeast Pleasant Hill, near The Crossroads Shopping Center, Monument Blvd., and Interstate 680. I wanted to bring to your attention that our community, which is east of Contra Costa Blvd., feels more like Concord than Pleasant Hill.
Our area has mostly affordable high density housing with commercial buildings; however, we also have a mobile home park, residences for the recently unhoused, and a co-housing community. The public school students attend is Fair Oaks Elementary, and most of the students who attend that school are Concord residents. Additionally, while all the rest of Pleasant Hill is zoned to attend College Park High School, students in our area are zoned for Ygnacio Valley High School in Concord. We are the closest area of Pleasant Hill to the BART Station and we have one very small park called Sherman Acres Park.
As you begin to draw new district lines, I urge you to consider keeping my community together. Our area is unique in many ways and separating us would be detrimental to the sense of community we have built. We share many resources with our neighboring city of Concord and often feel we have more in common with them than we do with other areas of Pleasant Hill.
I hope you will take my concerns into consideration as you move forward with the districting process. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
