In accordance with California Elections Code section 10010(a)(1), the City Council conducted the first public hearing at its regular meeting on March 20, 2023 regarding the establishment of district boundaries for district-based elections. The City Council conducted the second public hearing at its regular meeting on April 3, 2023. The City Council will conduct a third public hearing at its regular meeting on April 17, 2023. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. The public is invited to provide input regarding the composition of the districts. Those desiring to be heard on the item will be given an opportunity to do so during such hearing.

After conducting the April 17th public hearing, the City will have a demographer prepare electoral division map(s) consistent with federal and state law outlining the proposed boundaries of the electoral divisions. The City anticipates having the draft maps available on April 24, 2023 with the first map hearing tentatively scheduled for May 1, 2023 at the regular City Council meeting. Two additional publicly noticed hearings will be held in May to discuss the draft maps. The public is invited to provide input regarding the content of the draft map(s). Those desiring to be heard on the item will be given an opportunity to do so during such hearings.

The City Council will then conduct a final public meeting and will take steps in June to adopt an Ordinance transitioning the City from an at-large to district-based method of electing Members of the City Council, approving the establishment of electoral division map boundaries, and approving the sequence of future Council elections, if applicable.

All public hearings will be conducted in the City Council Chamber, located at 100 Gregory Lane, Pleasant Hill, California, 94523. Agendas will be posted in advance of the meetings in compliance with the requirements of the Ralph M. Brown Act and can be viewed at www.pleasanthillca.org/agendas.
