RESOLUTION NO. -23
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANT HILL ACCEPTING BID AND AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE 2023 INTERSECTION AND CROSSWALK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT, PROJECT NO. 05-23;
AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT WITH GRADETECH, INC.
WHEREAS, the City Council allocated funding for this project on May 15, 2023, by City Council Resolution No. 35-23 in the amount of $840,000; and WHEREAS, the 2023 Intersection and Crosswalk Improvement Project, Project No. 05-23, will provide improvements at seven intersections throughout the City for increased pedestrian safety; and
WHEREAS, the project will provide improvements that include pedestrian-activated flashing stop signs and beacons, speed humps, and enhanced crosswalks; and WHEREAS, on September 7, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., Engineering staff publicly opened and examined the sealed bids for the 2023 Intersection and Crosswalk Improvement Project, Project No. 05-23; and
WHEREAS, the 2023 Intersection and Crosswalk Improvement Project, Project No. 05-23’s total construction cost is not to exceed $828,685.20, which includes a $739,897.50 base bid, plus a contingency of 12 percent, or $88,787.70, to address any unforeseen conditions during construction; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has determined that GradeTech, Inc. is the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Pleasant Hill as follows:
1. GradeTech, Inc.’s bid of $739,897.50 is found to be the lowest responsive, responsible bid and is accepted by the City Council at the unit prices set forth in the bid. This bid is on file in the Community Development Department and incorporated herein by this reference as though set forth in full.
2. A total project construction budget of $828,685.20, which includes the base bid price of $739,897.50 and project contingency funds in the amount of $88,787.70 (12%), is authorized by the City Council at the unit prices set forth in GradeTech, Inc.’s bid.
3. The City Manager is authorized to execute a construction contract in the amount of $729,897.50 with GradeTech, Inc. for the 2023 Intersection and Crosswalk Improvement Project, Project No. 05-23.
