SUBJECT: Commitment for Cost Share of a portion of the Contra Costa Blvd Improvement Project (City of Pleasant Hill Project No. 02-23 and City of Concord Project No. 2637) Dear Mr. Cook:

This letter confirms the City of Concord's commitment to provide funds for the cost of improvements within Concord’s city limits for the Contra Costa Blvd Improvement Project (City of Pleasant Hill Project No. 02-23 and City of Concord Project No. 2637). The project is being performed by the City of Pleasant Hill and is predominantly located on Contra Costa Blvd from Viking Dr to Harriet Dr. This commitment reflects our shared dedication to enhancing the infrastructure and amenities for the benefit of our communities.

The project includes upgrading traffic signals and improving pedestrian and bicycle safety at the intersection of Contra Costa Blvd and Sunvalley Blvd. The City of Concord will include this project in the upcoming Capital Budget for an amount of $440,000. This amount reflects Concord’s fair share for all work within Concord City Limits on Sunvalley Blvd, including concrete, asphalt, signage, and striping, and 25% of the cost of the traffic signal modification at Contra Costa Blvd and Sunvalley Blvd.

The City of Concord will include this project within the upcoming Capital Budget, which will go before the Concord City Council in June 2024 for adoption and allocation of funds. After the City Council adopts the Capital Budget, the City of Concord and the City of Pleasant Hill will enter into a formal agreement for the reimbursement of the City of Pleasant Hill for the improvements described above.

We look forward to the continued progress and successful outcome of the Contra Costa Blvd Improvement Project. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Carlton Thompson, PE
City Engineer
