RESOLUTION NO. -24
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANT HILL
AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF FUNDS FROM THE CALIFORNIA
SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES ACCOUNT (SLESA)
WHEREAS, the State of California, has authorized a grant of $186,000 to the Pleasant Hill Police Department under the Citizens Options for Public Safety (COPS) program to be distributed through the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Account (SLESA) administered by the Contra Costa County Supplemental Law Enforcement Oversight Committee; and
WHEREAS, as a condition of receiving the grant funds, state law requires the City Council to authorize the expenditure of grant funds for specific purposes related to “front line law enforcement”; and
WHEREAS, the Pleasant Hill Police Department recommends that the new grant funds be spent on additional Automated License Plate Readers and real time information center cameras; a portion of the cost of the Department’s Dispatch Supervisor position; the purchase of furniture and carpeting for the secondary dispatch room; the purchase of a data integration platform; and a portion of the cost for a Police Department sign and electronic message board; and
WHEREAS, the City Council held a hearing on July 15, 2024, to review and consider the proposed expenditures.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Pleasant Hill authorizes the acceptance of funds from the California SLESA and the expenditure of the grant funds for additional Automated License Plate Readers and real time information center cameras; a portion of the cost of the Department’s Dispatch Supervisor position; the purchase of furniture and carpeting for the secondary dispatch room; the purchase of a data integration platform; and a portion of the cost for a Police Department sign and electronic message board; and
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasant Hill at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 15
th day of July, 2024, by the following vote:
