RESOLUTION NO. -25
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANT HILL
APPROVING THE APPROPRIATION OF STREET RESURFACING PROGRAM FUNDS TO
FUND THE RESURFACING OF CONTRA COSTA BOULEVARD (HARRIET DRIVE TO
VIKING DRIVE), TAYLOR BOULEVARD (CONTRA COSTA BOULEVARD TO TERRY
WAY), AND SUN VALLEY BOULEVARD (CONTRA COSTA BOULEVARD TO SANTA
MONICA DRIVE) AS PART OF THE CONTRA COSTA BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 02-23 AND AUTHORIZE THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE
A CONSTRUCTION CHANGE ORDER WITH REDGWICK CONSTRUCTION COMPANY WHEREAS, the City has adopted the Fiscal Year 2024 – 2029 Capital Improvement Plan which includes the Street Resurfacing Program as a funded project; and WHEREAS, the 2024 Street Resurfacing Program provides for on-going maintenance of the City’s 110 miles of roadway pavement; and
WHERAS, Public Works staff has determined that Contra Costa Boulevard (Harriet Drive to Viking Drive), Taylor Boulevard (Contra Costa Boulevard to Terry Way), and Sun Valley Boulevard (Contra Costa Boulevard to Santa Monica Drive) would benefit from a resurfacing treatment; and WHEREAS, Contra Costa Boulevard Improvement Project (Viking Drive to Harriet Drive) Project No. 02-23 will construct “complete streets" enhancements along Contra Costa Boulevard (CCB), between Viking Drive and Harriet Drive to improve access and safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and vehicles along the Project corridor; and WHEREAS, a contract between the City of Pleasant Hill and Redgwick Construction Company was executed on Contra Costa Boulevard Improvement Project (Viking Drive to Harriet Drive) Project No. 02-23; and
WHEREAS, the Engineer’s Estimate for the proposed resurfacing work is $1,233,865.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Pleasant Hill that
1. The City Council approves appropriation of $1,233,865 from Street Resurfacing Program funds for the resurfacing of Contra Costa Boulevard (Harriet Drive to Viking Drive), Taylor Boulevard (Contra Costa Boulevard to Terry Way), and Sun Valley Boulevard (Contra Costa Boulevard to Santa Monica Drive) as part of the Contra Costa Boulevard Improvement Project No. 02-23.
2. The City Council authorizes the Public Works Director to execute a contract change order with Redgwick Construction Company, in an amount not to exceed $1,233,865 for pavement resurfacing for the Contra Costa Boulevard Improvement Project (Viking Drive to Harriet Drive) Project No. 02-23.
