STREETS & ROADS
STREET RESURFACING PROGRAM
This program provides for on‐going maintenance of the City's 110 miles of roadway pavement. Roadway pavement typically needs to be maintained every 10 years, which means the City would have to rehabilitate approximately 11 miles of streets each year before starting over, to consistently maintain the streets in good condition.
Currently the City's Pavement Management Program estimates that an annual allocation of $2.5 million is necessary in order to maintain the City's Pavement Condition Index (PCI) at its current value of 73 points (good overall street condition), and an annual allocation of $3M will increase and maintain the City's PCI at 75points. Currently 72% of the City’s streets are in “good” condition. Reducing the expenditures of funds below $2.5M will increase the City's long term maintenance backlog and reduce the overall PCI and condition of city streets.
